The Demon-Making

The Demon-Making Workshop was an invitation to encounter one of the oldest figures of human imagination: the demon. Demons have not always existed to frighten us; sometimes they emerge from our fears and the unknown, inviting us to confront our inner world. We believe that before demons are slain, they must first be seen—and drawn.

The first part of the workshop explored mythological, literary, and visual representations of demons, examining their role across culture and art. Rather than treating them merely as terrifying creatures, participants were encouraged to see them as metaphors for fear, the shadow self, and the unseen parts of human experience.

From there, each participant set out to design and create a personal demon, drawing inspiration from their own memories, emotions, and imagination. From the first sketches to the final artwork, the creative process focused on storytelling, character design, and visual expression, allowing every demon to develop its own identity and narrative.

More than a drawing workshop, Demon-Making was an exercise in seeing—seeing what we usually choose to avoid. Once our fears take shape, they are no longer just monsters; they become part of our story. And perhaps, it is from that moment that understanding—and ultimately overcoming—them truly begins.
